Clarification: In our previous issue of Real Numbers, we stated that anyone over 16 years old can be tried as an adult under the new Juvenile Justice Act 2015. To clarify, as per the act, juveniles over 16 years old can only be tried as adults for heinous offenses. Any 16-18 year old who commits a lesser offense can only be tried as an adult if they are apprehended after the age of 21 years.
